Professional tennis

Our academy is home to about 30 professional tennis players. This includes our top players Andrea Petkovic and Phillipp Petzschner, but also other top players who have played for their countries in the Davis Cup.

The road to the world rankings is anything but easy. It requires much more than just talent to become one of the worlds best players. A professional tennis player needs to be willing to go beyond her/his limits. Not only the attitude of the athlete is important but also their environment plays a crucial role. Parents, siblings, tennis- and mental coaches, physiotherapists and sponsors are all part of the overall picture. They influence the professional tennis players both positively and negatively. Therefore athletes should receive professional care, which is tailored to their individual needs.

We were able to lead players such as Andrea Petkovic or Angelique Kerber into the top of the world rankings due to Alexander Waske’s and his coaching team’s expertise and experience. TU sporting director Sascha Nensel and our coaching team play an important role in the success of the players, as well as the structure and organization of the TU. In addition to the tennis- and athletic training we teach our professional tennis players values such as discipline, resilience and respect all year round.
