Juergen asked Alex right after Alex’s last official match in Vienna 2012 on Center Court, after he lost to him in doubles, if he could coach him from now on. So he was retired for 5 seconds and already took over the next job.

Jürgen was ranked 40 at the time and needed 160 points to be seeded in Melbourne, so they went to Valencia 500, where he beat Berlocq, Malisse and Goffin and secured the #29 spot in the rankings. In 2013 he made 3rd round at the Australian Open, Finals in Zagreb, won Dallas, quarterfinals in Miami, 4rth round in Wimbledon.
